The study aims on effects of mercury on haematological and biochemical parameters in blood plasma on common carp (Cyprinus carpio L.). The theoretical part of study is focused on phenomenon of occurrence of mercury and its forms in aquatic environment and fish. Practical portion of study includes the effects of administration to mercury and also the effects of co-administration of sodium chloride. In the first experiment we carried out the exposure of Cyprinus carpio L. by selected mercury concentrations for 5, 10 and 15 days. In the second experiments were carps exposed to 1.5 micro g.l-1 mercury with the addition of various concentrations of sodium chloride (29 mg.l-1, 300 mg.l-1 and 1000 mg.l-1) for 72 h. For the evaluation of haematological and biochemical biomarkers in blood plasma of carps, we exploited the Konelab T 20xt and Easy Lyte machines. The obtained data were statistically processed and evaluated.
Impact of various selenium supplements offered sheep on lambs´vitality
HUPKOVÁ, Petra
The aim of my thesis was to compare the effects of selenium in organic form (bound to Chlorella algae and to yeast) and of selenium in inorganic form (Na2SeO3) on the growth and some chosen hematological and biochemical parameters. Two experiments were conducted. During the first one, the effect of selenium in organic form bound to Chlorella algae and selenium in inorganic form was observed when offered gravid sheep against a control group without selenium. During the second one, the effects of selenium in inorganic form and in various organic forms were monitored when offered the sheep after their delivery. The experiments proved positive impact of selenium offered the sheep already during the period of their gravidity (whether in organic or inorganic form) on the growth of the lambs and some chosen biochemical blood parameters of theirs. Selenium in organic form bound to Chlorella, the fluvial algae, had more positive effects on the lambs´ growth parameters than organic form bound to yeast and than inorganic form (Na2SeO3). The effect of selenium in organic form bound to yeast offered the sheep after their delivery was not better than offering inorganic sodium selenite. Lambs´ growth parameters seem to be better when the sheep are offered selenium already during their gravidity in comparison with the sheep having already delivered. The pure Chlorella added into the feeding ration for gravid sheep has a positive impact on lambs´ birth weight and growth parameters. The need appears to reconsider alcaline phosphatase values which the literature states as objective.
Evaluation of red blood count and biochemical parameters in elite runners - a case study
Pavlů, Jiří ; Červinka, Pavel (advisor) ; Semerád, Miroslav (referee)
Title: Evaluation of red blood count and biochemical parameters in elite runners - a case study Aims: The main goal of this work is to determine the dynamics of biochemical parameters and red blood count in relation to the individual phases of year training cycle in two elite runners on medium and long distances. The second goal is to examine the data with the intention of discovering the character of the trend of individual parameters in terms of four seasonal testing for each of the probands. Methods of work: he method of content analysis of record sheets related to red blood count (RBC, HGB, HCT, MCV, MCH, MCHC, RDW) and biochemical parameters (iron, transferrin, ferritin, iron saturation of transferrin) was used to develop the work. These sheets were provided to me by the coach of both probands. The provided data were recorded in tables which were the basis for the graphs in the final part of the work. The graphs were used to monitor the fluctuation of the values of individual parameters with respect to the RTC of each season, and possible mutual relations in the variability of these parameters were sought. The long-term trend was also examined in terms of the dynamics of the parameters. Results: The measured values of individual parameters of the athletes studied by me are in the range of...
Changes of geochemistry of surface water in selected catchments of the Ore Mountains
Navrátilová, Denisa ; Matoušková, Milada (advisor) ; Benešová, Libuše (referee)
This master thesis focuses on an analysis of surface water chemistry, long-term trends and the impact of drought on changes in concentrations of selected parameters in the upper Svatava, Rolava and Načetínský potok basins located in the Ore Mountains. Research on water quality in mountain spring areas is important, the consequences of various changes can be easily observed there. This work analyses the changes in surface water chemistry and discusses their possible causes, especially the impact of peat bogs and dry episodes. The parameters of water temperature, conductivity, pH, BOD5, COD, TOC, concentration of nitrate nitrogen, total phosphorus, phosphates, sodium, potassium, calcium and iron were investigated for the period 1993-2018. The available data are analysed using evaluation methods according to ČSN 75 7221 as well as box plots, Pearson correlation coefficient, PCA analysis and Mann-Kendall test. The greatest anthropogenic influence exhibited in Svatava, almost all concentrations reached their highest values there. In the Rolava and Načetínský potok basins, the influence of peatlands manifested itself by increasing the concentrations of iron, TOC and COD. The results of trends showed an increase both in pH and in surface water temperature related to an increase in air temperature, on the...
Searching for and Evaluating the Severity of Endothelial Dysfunction in Children with Chronic Autoimmune Disease
Sýkorová, Aneta ; Jehlička, Petr (advisor) ; Urbanová, Zuzana (referee) ; Klásková, Eva (referee)
We aimed to evaluate the endothelial function by combining RHI measurements and specific biochemical markers in the children with possible risk of premature manifestation of atherosclerosis and in the control group of healthy children. In all, 124 children (of which 106 patients divided into five groups according to diagnosis - type 1 diabetes mellitus, Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, familial hypercholesterolemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia and 18 healthy controls) were enrolled in the study. During the study, we measured RHI using a new plethysmographic method and further evaluated biochemical markers of endothelial dysfunction (ADMA, E-selectin, hsCRP and VCAM) and lipidogram in individual groups of children. The primary objective of our study was the determination of RHI and biochemical parameters in healthy subjects and in selected risk groups of children (type 1 diabetes mellitus, Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, familial hypercholesterolemia and children after successful treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia). At the same time, we compared patients from individual groups with the control group. We found significantly elevated RHI values in groups of children with type 1 diabetes, Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, and children after successful treatment of acute lymphoblastic leukemia....
Postnatal changes of selected blood parameters of the rabbit
LAŠTOVKOVÁ, Kristýna
Rabbit is an important laboratory animal used in a big variety of experiments. In these experiments are used rabbits of different age and metabolic activity, which reflects into the haematological and biochemical parameters. There is a lack of information about the haematological and biochemical parameters and their changes in the early postnatal stage of life in the available literary sources. This bachelor thesis focuses on the changes of selected haematological and biochemical parameters during 39 days of the rabbits postnatal stage of life. Acquired data show that since the birth until the 39th day of the rabbits life there had been an increase of the average values of erotrocyns (from 2,81 ? 0,28 to 4,86 ? 0,52 T/l), hematocrit values (from 0,285 ? 0,025 tu 0,34 ? 0,02 l/l) and the volume of hemoglobin (from 99,3 ? 2,0 to 111,6 ? 9,9 g/l) On the other hand, the number of leukocytes had dropped with the age from (from 9,25 ? 3,0 to 5,04 ? 0,66 G/l), as well as the percentages of neutrophilic granulocytes. The highest amount of plasma proteins (78,2 ? 4,27 g/l) was recorded on the fifth day, and a negative dependence was calculated among the plasma proteins and urea(- 0,25). Also the physiological hypercholesterolemia occured. Throughout the evolution od the rabbits were recorded very similar amounts of Ca and Mg in the blood plasma. Alkaline phosphatase and gamma glutamyl transferase had shown hight activity in the curse of the evolution.
